Automotive Giant Moves Financial Applications To Microsoft Azure To Reduce Infrastructure Maintenance Cost And Increase Security
Use Cases - Automotive Industry, AZURE
The client is one of the largest suppliers of automotive parts in the USA, with more than 20,000 employees working in their 100+ facilities and centers globally.
The client had recently undergone an important M&A transaction with one of the major players in the automotive sector to boost their business. Following the merger, the client needed a solution for their financial applications based on the Oracle EPM Suite, which until then was hosted and maintained by the previous holding company.
The client was looking for a solution partner who could support all the activities with proven expertise. They wanted to gain full ownership of their EPM applications. The client engaged with MSRcosmos— A Microsoft Gold partner with extensive experience and proven expertise in migrating and modernizing production web application workloads and managing app services in Azure. After careful evaluation supported by MSRcosmos, the client decided to embark on a journey to Azure. They moved their financial applications on Microsoft Azure to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the public cloud.
Solution & Benefits
From the moment MSRcosmos was assigned, the team took full charge of the client’s cloud migration journey – successfully migrating the financial applications and the reporting & analysis solution from the customer’s on-premise environment to Azure.
All the environments, from development to quality and production – are now entirely designed and running on the Microsoft Azure IaaS platform and based on Windows Servers operating system with Microsoft SQL Server as the main repositories for data and metadata. The production environment’s high availability configuration, gained through Azure application gateway and MS SQL AlwaysOn cluster technology with geo-redundancy of data and backup, assures the solution’s entire resilience of the solution.
By adopting Microsoft Azure, the company gained important benefits, including:
- Cost reduction of infrastructure maintenance and governance
- Increased robustness and security of the overall infrastructure
- A significant reduction in energy consumption and overall carbon footprint
- Ability to meet fast-changing needs in an efficient way, thanks to having a single partner for both cloud and application managed services.
