Retail Giant Migrates Entire On-Premise SAP Estate To Azure To Keep Pace With Evolving Business Needs
Use Cases - AZURE, Cloud, Retail Industry
The client is a leading US retail giant specializing in safety products. The core purpose of the business is to ensure people’s safety at work. They distribute a world-class range of over 150,000 quality assured, branded products, that includes protective equipment like safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear, safety harnesses, muffs, hard hats, respirators, to name a few and other workplace safety and hygiene products.
The client was keen on digital transformation as they wanted to develop new-age applications that could benefit the growing business and meet the demands of evolving retail space. Having depended on on-premise systems for over 15 years, they were unable to scale. Besides, maintenance costs were high. They wanted a cost-effective, flexible solution for their size of IT operation. The client engaged with MSRCosmos and decided to migrate its entire on-premise SAP estate to Microsoft Azure and close its own data centers. Azure was a unanimous choice as it opened up exciting cloud computing opportunities to develop a fully digitally integrated business.
MSRCosmos engaged with the client’s IT team and assessed all the pain points. Our team then crafted a comprehensive strategy to ensure a smooth migration of their SAP estate workloads on Azure and tailored a cloud adoption framework according to their needs. The migration plan comprised of Azure’s public cloud services and training material for their employees on Azure.
Our team meticulously planned every detail and performed two mock-ups before orchestrating the final migration. In the process every aspect was scrutinized and assessed for potential risks, informing a program to cater for every possible eventuality.
Since moving to Azure the client is able to seamlessly scale systems on demand, enjoy simplified backup and restore procedures, and benefit from a cost-effective disaster recovery solution. The move has also reduced the maintenance cost by 40% with full security compliance.
